About me

Hi, my name is Christian. I am living in Germany and currently work as IT Security Analyst for a big European corporation. My day-to-day work involves a decent amount of incident response, a bit of forensics and automation, as well as the administration and operation of the vulnerability scanning and network anomaly detection environments.

Previously I worked as a Network & Security Engineer focusing on Firewalls, Data Center Routing & Switching (my favorite networking topic) and public cloud networking. I developed my interest in Security and Networking during my apprenticeship in IT systems integration. Before that, I also spend a couple of semesters studying computer science at university, where I picked up decent coding skills, but did not feel comfortable in that environment and started looking for an apprenticeship instead.

The work I enjoyed the most at both positions was turning as much infrastructure as possible into code, and to then use that code to automate reoccurring tasks. The tools I use to accomplish this are mainly python, ansible and gitlab for CI/CD. Sadly, most of my programs are tailored to fit my specific corporate environment, so sharing them does not make sense.

I am a big supporter of libre software and have been trying to remove as much proprietary software from my life as possible. Outside of tech, I took a liking to gardening, especially hydroponics, so you will see most about this on this blog too.
